The VoiceMaster Speaks about the Power of Voice Acting in Storytelling at the BATA AKO Conference

In celebration of National Children’s Month, BATA AKO PH organized the BATA AKO Conference 2016, held on November 6-8 at the Smallville 21 Hotel in Iloilo City. Hundreds of parents, teachers and students attended the event to learn about various issues affecting today’s children, such as their rights, health and welfare, especially in the age where they are exposed to too much information, too soon. There were also topics discussed in the seminar that tackled children’s media, such as children’s books, animation and television.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales graced the event as a panelist and a speaker during the conference, sharing his knowledge about the voice and its importance in storytelling. According to the VoiceMaster, storytelling is a timeless manner of passing on history, tradition, and even moral values from one generation to another. As a youth advocate for 20 years, the VoiceMaster has worked closely with young people and has seen how technology has greatly transformed how children think, learn and behave in their environment. As a Filipino futurist, he also shared his foresight about how technology will continue to evolve, and how the education sector should adapt to these changes.

In his talk entitled “Voice Acting for Effective Storytelling,” the VoiceMaster shared his experience and expertise in voice acting that parents and teachers can apply in storytelling. He talked about the voice as the most powerful human instrument, and how voice acting techniques can greatly improve how one’s story is heard and received. The VoiceMaster also encouraged the audience to tell their story in a manner that will inspire and motivate other people. Of course, the VoiceMaster amazed the audience by demonstrating his voice acting talent through a repertoire of character voices, and by doing a live radio drama, voicing multiple characters!

The BATA AKO Conference’s speaker lineup included Daisy Atienza of National Council for Children’s Television, Tarie Sabido of Philippine Board on Books for Young People, Glory Moralidad of Bata Ako PH, and Rose Gonzales of the Animation Council of the Philippines.

BATA AKO also organized other activities for the month such as a medical mission, storytelling session, games and film showing to celebrate National Children’s Month.

On October 29, Tuldok Animation celebrated its 11^th anniversary with a free introductory workshop on Stop-Motion Animation and Voice Acting. The workshop was held at the Commune Café + Bar in Makati City, which was attended by over 30 participants.

The voice acting workshop was conducted by Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster told the story of his journey in the world of voice acting – the joys and the pain, the successes and the failures, the good and the bad – and how those experiences ignited his vision to make the Philippines the center of voiceover excellence in Asia. He talked about the Philippine Center for Voice Acting, the first and only voice acting school in the country, which he built to produce a new breed of voice artists who would treat the industry with passion and appreciation, and not just look at voice acting as an easy way to make money.

The VoiceMaster also shared how his school has helped realize the dreams of many aspiring voice artists, not only by equipping them with the tools and techniques to play with their voice, but more importantly, by opening the doors to them of the used-to-be elusive industry. He also shared how voice acting has become a venue for most students to express their creativity, something that their current circumstances seemed to have stifled in one way or another.

After having amazed and amused the audience with a repertoire of character voices and voice imitations of famous personalities, the VoiceMaster also taught the basic principles of how to “act” with the voice, which he fondly calls the “VoiceMaster’s Formula.” He also shared to the audience how the human voice has the power to shape the world we live in, and challenged everyone to be more conscious of how they use their voice in their everyday life.

The knowledge shared by the VoiceMaster during the workshop is also included in his latest book, “Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent,” which is now available in all leading bookstores nationwide.

The VoiceMaster Motivates Graduating Students at CEU Makati’s Job Hunting Seminar

More than 500 graduating students gathered at the Activity Center of Centro Escolar University, Makati for their annual Job Hunting Seminar, on October 25, 2016. With the theme, “Branding on Campus: Maximizing Career Opportunities,” the seminar aims to help graduating students gain a competitive advantage as they go out to pursue their respective careers after graduation.

The first half of the seminar featured two of the country’s most sought-after motivational speakers of this generation – Pambansang Inspirasyon Lloyd Luna, and Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

After an intermission number, the VoiceMaster came onstage to talk about “Personal Branding for Students.” He began his talk with an introduction of what he is doing – as a voice artist, youth advocate, storyteller and a motivational speaker. The VoiceMaster entertained the crowd with his repertoire of character voices, hugot lines and humorous banters.

The VoiceMaster then transitioned to the meat of his talk – about finding one’s purpose in order to establish their brand. He emphasized how important it is to discover one’s passion and purpose, in order for them to do work that is meaningful and not just do work to earn money. He reminded the young people that they are not “young” forever, and that it’s never too late or too early to pursue what they would like to become. The VoiceMaster also told the story of how he, at the young age of 16, discovered his passion for voice acting, which later on became the catapult to establish his brand as the VoiceMaster.

The VoiceMaster also shared his “8 to be GREAT” – or the 8 qualities of people of greatness. He explained that one’s success in his/her chosen career or profession does not rely on how you write your resume, or how you dress up or answer questions during an interview. Rather, being great has to do with building character, so that they don’t just ace their job application, but their career as well.

The VoiceMaster closed his talk with his Pochology: Availability is the best ability. He challenged the students to be open to opportunities for them to express their passion and skills.

The VoiceMaster Inspires UST Marketing Students in their ‘Breakthrough Seminar’

The University of Sto. Tomas Junior Marketing Association held a half-day seminar entitled “Breakthrough 2016” on October 24, 2016 at the Commerce AVR of St. Raymund de Penafort Building. Around 100 students attended the event to learn to build their self-confidence, particularly in the area of hosting and public speaking. The highlight of the seminar were 3 guest speakers who are esteemed in their respective fields when it comes to hosting and public speaking.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was the second speaker on the lineup. In his talk entitled “The Art of Voice Acting in Public Speaking,” he emphasized on the importance of the voice in public speaking. According to the VoiceMaster, the voice is the most powerful human instrument, yet most people never pay attention to how they use it in their everyday lives, much less when it comes to public speaking. He shared his experiences as a voice artist, and even entertained the audience with his repertoire of character voices.

This showcase of voice acting skills was the VoiceMaster’s transition to inspire and motivate the students to appreciate their voice and use it to affect positive social change. According to the VoiceMaster, no amount of public speaking techniques or do’s and dont’s will take the place of speaking from the heart, especially if you’re speaking in front of an audience. He challenged the students to always be intentional in their actions and in life. To the VoiceMaster, as long as you are clear with your intention on why you are speaking in front of the audience, you will not only have confidence, but you will also have a purpose.

The two other speakers in Breakthrough 2016 are DJ and host Angel Jones, and TV reporter Carlo Lorenzo.

The VoiceMaster Inspires Thousands of Students and Teachers at DepEd NIR’s Youth Formation Summit

The Department of Education – Negros Island Region held its fourth Youth Formation Summit, more popularly known as the “Nation of Heroes 4” on October 21-23, 2016 at La Carlota City, Negros Occidental. Thousands of students and teachers from the different schools in the region gathered for 3 days of fun and learning.

With the theme “Batang Bayani: Bahagi Ako ng Pagbabago,” the summit aimed to build the leadership skills and mindset among the Filipino youth.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was invited back to the Nation of Heroes event as one of the speakers on the third day of the summit. He inspired and motivated more than 2,000 students and teachers by teaching them a simplified approach to leadership with his talk entitled “8 to be GREAT.” The VoiceMaster shared the 8 qualities that makes a great leader, which includes passion, persistence, sharing, and love. He challenged the young people in the audience to discover their passion and purpose, and spend their lives expressing it. He even talked about Dr. Jose Rizal as the epitome of Filipino greatness, and shared untold stories about the National Hero. He challenged the audience to become familiar with Rizal’s life and work not for learning history, but to learn and emulate his principles and ideals.

The VoiceMaster also talked about the power of the voice, and how he has used his own voice from when he was young, not only to entertain people but to also inspire and motivate them. He told about his experience starting out young in the voice acting industry, and how he built his reputation in the world of voice by building the first-ever voice acting school in the country, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting. Of course, the VoiceMaster’s talk would not be complete without the proverbial “sample” – which he did by imitating personalities and showcasing the commercials, animation and Koreanovelas he has voiced. He also wowed the audience with a storytelling session where he did cartoon character voices. The VoiceMaster gave the opportunity to volunteers from the audience to showcase their talents.

Nation of Heroes 4 was held in partnership with the Schools Division of La Carlota City, Gaba-an Youth Lead, New Ground Events and PRISAAP.

VOTY Radio Broadcasting Academy Goes to Bacoor, Cavite

On October 21, Voice of the Youth Network’s Radio Broadcasting Academy was conducted for the Communication students of St. Dominic College of Asia in Bacoor, Cavite. About 30 students attended the half-day workshop to learn about the basics of voice and radio broadcasting.

The workshop started with a short but powerful motivational talk from VOTY Founder, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster challenged the participants to use Broadcasting as an avenue to fulfill their life purpose and inspire their fellow youth, instead of getting into Broadcasting for the purpose of becoming rich and famous. He also talked about discovering their life purpose, and went around the room to ask a few participants their “why” in life.

Up next was VOTY’s Head Secretariat, Ada Cuaresma, who did a mini-workshop on conducting radio interviews. Ada started by sharing about VOTY – its mission and vision, and the radio programs they produce all over the country. She then transitioned into her topic, where she taught the students of the essential elements of an interview. She also discussed the before, during and closing of an interview, and gave the students tools and techniques to effectively conduct interviews on radio.

The interview workshop was followed with a quick lesson on voice, which was conducted by Voiceworx graduates Andrew Miravalles and Romi Jallorina. They talked a little bit about voice acting, and even led the students through a fun activity so that they can experience it for themselves. They also shared their experiences with Voiceworx, and even entertained the audience with their repertoire of character voices.

The VoiceMaster came back onstage to conclude the workshop with more words of encouragement. He invited the participants to become part of VOTY’s radio shows, so that they can also do their part to inform, inspire, involve and empower their fellow youth.

Negosyo Kabataan’s Youthrepreneurship Forum at the 15th Franchise and Business Expo

The 15^th Franchise and Business Expo organized by the Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. (AFFI) was held on October 14-16, 2016 at the World Trade Center. The expo features hundreds of businesses that are open for franchising or distributorship, and also other businesses that support micro, small and medium businesses in the country.

Part of the expo is a series of talks and seminars that are geared towards helping and empowering Filipino entrepreneurs. One of the highlights of the second day of the expo was the Youthrepreneurship Forum hosted by Negosyo Kabataan, an advocacy group that aims to empower aspiring and existing young Filipino entrepreneurs to create passion-driven businesses. With the theme “Passion + Purpose = Profit,” the forum is a discussion among young entrepreneurs who shared their stories about how they discovered their life purpose and built a successful business out of it.

The forum featured 6 panelists: motivational speaker and author Blasgil Tanquilut, speaker and author JB Borromeo, multi-awarded entrepreur Jhopet Fines, director/producer and life coach Paolo Apagalang, EntrepTV Executive Producer and host Jade Bigay, and language school owner Ezekiel del Rio. They took turns sharing their experiences about growing their businesses, and how their passion helped them overcome the challenges they met along the way. They also shared the lessons that they have learned, and how their journey enabled them to inspire and impact the lives of other people.

Two more entrepreneurs also joined the panelists to share their insights on discovering their passion and purpose – multi-awarded photographer Jophel Ybiosa and A-aicon distributor Christian Leynes.

The forum concluded with inspiring words from Negosyo Kabataan Founder, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster shared the reason behind his advocacy, and how he also became a young entrepreneur and established his brand in the world of voice acting as a young entrepreneur. He left the audience with a powerful message to shift their mindset when it comes to building a business, from making money to making a difference.

The Youthreprenuership Forum was organized by Voice of the Youth Network and Negosyo Kabataan – both youth advocacy groups founded by the VoiceMaster – in partnership with Milkin’ Corporation, makers of Fiorgelato Ice Cream, headed by its CEO and AFFI Board Member Richie Cuna.
